10 years back, driving in US was a never before experience. We wished we had these highways in India. India has now gone that far and catching up. Driving today on these highways gives "exactly" the same experience as in America. While driving, one is not able to realize whether one is in US or India - thanks to vehicles also proudly following right-hand-drive rule of Americas after having a feel of American highway. One can never determine which is actually the right direction to drive in.
We also find "lane driving is safe driving" signboards but what is so lacking on government's part that nowhere you would find a board telling what is a lane?
Then comes the cattles and their teams still trying to find their lost jungle out there and creating their own highway crossing the roads. I don't understand why urban planning does not include cattle expressways along with highways.
Stealth bombers...oops stealth vehicles are also integral part of Indian highways. They come in all shapes and have a common characteristics - one can not see them especially driving at night and half of them come against you from opposite direction. They are built to do maximum damage by either loaded with tons of solid concrete or sharp iron rods to destroy the enemy.
Things would change but not automatically. We need campaigns to educate traffic sense to people. And yes, we need to erradicate corruption completely from Driver's License Authorities. Let's do it together!
