It's International No Child Labor day Today, though it's not much different a day for Sonu. Sonu, 9, work all day near a multi story shopping/office complex at the chaiwallah shop doing hundreds of trips up and down the 5 storeys of the complex and earning a "handsome" 50 Rupees a day!
It's not that Sonu doesn't want to study, it's also not a case that his parents doesn't want him to study but it's the livelihood that all of them have to earn. So, even if the education, books and meals are free, chances of Sonu continuing studies are still bleak. It's the economy of livelihood that is forcing Sonus to learn counting using the stairs and cups of tea. The chaiwallah won't get an employee as energetic as Sonu at that salary.
Child Labor activists raid the place on No Child Labor day and are able to provide the much required freedom to Sonu Today. But, the next day might not be a lot different to Sonu, nor for his parents!
We probably need be thinking on a different line for actually able to be saying NO! Think deeper!
(persons or places are hypothetical)
